GAMKA WILDLIFE was born out of a passion for the Klein Karoo, nature and conservation. The farm is situated in Matjiesvlei, a picturesque valley at the foot of the Swartberg Mountains next to the Gamka River. Located 70 kilometers west of Oudtshoorn, Gamka Wildlife is 3 200 hectares in size and 600 of those hectares are fenced off as camps for the breeding of various species of wildlife.
The Klein Karoo’s remote habitat and unique climate conditions (low rainfall, cold winters and hot summers) suit our animals as they are well adapted to their environment and have high drought and cold stress-tolerance levels.
Our dedicated and knowledgeable team is committed to providing the best possible service and the strongest genetics to our clients. We believe that there is no substitute for top genetics and therefore selection is the foundation of our breeding programme. This is underpinned by accurate record keeping and the rotation of breeding stock in order to create the greatest possible genetic diversity.
Our vision is to breed wildlife of exceptional genetic quality through careful selection and pro-active best practice management principles. We subscribe to the highest ethical standards and are fully transparent in all our dealings.
Gamka Wildlife specialises in the breeding of roan, sable, buffalo, springbok, Cape eland and kudu.
